Volunteer Office Assistant

Summary
Volunteer Reports to Administrative Coordinator
The Receptionist/Office Assistant will perform a variety of tasks which may include providing hospitality for clients, answering phones and other administrative tasks with direction from FEC office staff. This position helps to extend the resources available at the Family Enhancement Center to better assist and support the needs of our clients.
- Answer phones
- Greet clients
- Provide hospitality for clients as directed by staff
- Gather information from potential clients using our intake form
- Make copies of documents to keep folders available to Parenting staff
- Scan documents and upload into electronic medical records system
- Respond to authorized requests for records information
- Distribute faxes or mail to appropriate staff
- Write thank you notes to donors
- Assist with annual fundraising events
Requirements
- Complete FEC Volunteer Form and Background Check
- Present a professional appearance and a friendly manner
- Must be dependable and punctual
- Be courteous and personable when dealing with the public
- Be self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail-oriented
- Respect and maintain confidentiality of Family Enhancement Center volunteers, partners, and donors
- Computer skills are desired
Training and Supervision
- Initial interview and orientation with Volunteer Coordinator
- Complete office orientation as needed
- Training and supervision conducted by Volunteer Coordinator and FEC staff.
Time Commitment
- As needed based on availability and assignment. Prefer weekly or bi-weekly schedule.

Nest Program Mentor
Summary
Volunteer Reports to Volunteer Coordinator
Volunteers will receive training to become mentors in our Nest Program, with the goal of strengthening families and preventing child abuse. The Nest Program is designed to support families struggling with child management issues either due to a parent or child’s mental health, family trauma or other stressful circumstances that make parenting difficult. Mentors will be asked to connect with their assigned family every week.
Activities may include:
- Providing emotional support
- Helping parents identify their own and their child’s strengths
- Increasing parental discipline options
- Improving social skills
- Helping families enjoy spending time together
Requirements
- Must complete FEC Volunteer Form and Background Check
- Must present a professional appearance and a friendly manner
- Must be dependable and punctual
- Be courteous and personable when dealing with the public
- Be self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail-oriented
- Respect and maintain confidentiality of Family Enhancement Center volunteers, partners, and donors
- Computer skills are desired, but not necessary
- Provide support based on the suggested activities provided and mentor training
- Record time spent with families (software)
- Check-in with clients (WEEKLY)
- Be a resource of problem-solving for challenges around child-care, transportation, parenting advice and family focused activities.
- Monthly supervision/support groups with the Volunteer Coordinator.
- Maintain confidentiality of participants.
- Clear communication with the family and Volunteer Coordinator.
Training and Supervision
- Initial “interview” and orientation with Volunteer Coordinator
- Complete training provided, including in-person/zoom session with FEC staff and video options for coaching and support.
- Training and supervision conducted by Volunteer Coordinator and FEC staff.
Time Commitment:
- 6-10 hours a month and activity as determined
- Phone contact within reason.

Hospitality and Event Volunteer
Summary
This position will support one of our in-person programs at the FEC office, such as Drum Beat, Families Moving Forward and Healing Motion. It could require ordering/picking up food/refreshments, setting up the room, welcoming clients to their weekly meeting.
FEC will also need volunteers for events when they occur. These duties would be one-time related to the event and could include, picking up supplies, assisting with invitations, registration, setting up the event space, welcoming guests and managing event check-in, assist with overall event logistics.

- Computer skills are desired, but not necessary
- Maintain confidentiality of FEC clients, donors and guests.
- Clear communication with the Volunteer Coordinator.
